There are two types of 'doctor'

The best know type are medical doctors. The others are research scientists with a PhD.

Some people are both.

A 'clinical research fellow' is someone who is already fully qualified as a medical doctor, but who is also studying for a research degree: a PhD or MD.
Reply:No... to be a researcher you do not have to be a Dr... sometimes DR's are researchers though... be a little more specific...
Reply:Only if his title is Dr. My cousin has a PHD. So can call himself a Dr. He is a cancer research scientist. Do you mean as in GP. I don't really know. All guesses.
